Flying Scots

Fleet 203

Sailing Club of Washington is Chartered by the Flying Scot Sailing Association (FSSA) as Fleet 203 in the Capital District. Under this charter SCOW members who are also FSSA members can participate in sanctioned events using SCOW boats. SCOW owns and races six Flying Scots.

Race calendars

There are two, frequently updated calendars that summarizes Flying Scot races. The first one contains SCOW run and SCOW-sanctioned Flying Scot races (you may view it in a web browser, or access it from your preferred calendar application). The second calendar contains Flying Scot races and regattas in the region (view it in a web browser or load it into another application).

Opportunities to race include:       
Wednesday Evening Races (5.30 pm at Washington Sailing Marina) 
Intended for skippers with some sailing experience, but racing experience is not required.
No sailing experience needed for crew.  Crews are formed on a pick-up basis on site.        

Series Racing (Sunday/Saturday afternoons on predetermined dates)
Intended for skippers with some racing experience. Wednesday night is a good place to gain that experience.         

Challenge Ladder (Ad Hoc)
One-on-one Match racing          

District and National FSSA Events (listed or announced via the all-SCOW google group)
Recommended for those with considerable racing experience.
