The crew list and waitlist for Calypso are now final, but anyone can join us on a kayak!
Join SCOW for an evening on Back Creek as we motor Calypso and paddle kayaks to the Tunesday floating concert. Chronic Sailing hosts this free summer concert series, with artists performing atop a large catamaran until sunset. We’ll raft up and enjoy the music.
Two ways to join:
Where? The concert plays on Back Creek directly across from the Capital SUP/kayak rental location at Nautilus Point. Park at Nautilus Point. Parking restrictions are not enforced currently.
When? Recurring Tuesdays
Connect in Advance! Join our WhatsApp group for live updates to coordinate our raft-up, maybe some pre-event pool time, and maybe post-event treats at a pub.
See you there!
Registration for this event is open now until Wednesday 6/11
Join us for a day sail to the festival at national harbor, where we will join the party and sit down to eat in celebration. The return trip group will meet us for lunch, enjoy the party and sail the boat back. Signup for both trips if you can. Based on the popularity of the event, we may have room for both options.
On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers landed in Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that all slaves were free. This was 2 ½ years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation that became official on January 1, 1863. Since that time, African Americans have celebrated with food, fellowship, prayer, and reassurance.
Juneteenth not only celebrates the freedom of African Americans from slavery, but it's also a time to reflect on the history and the progress that has been made and to encourage continuous self-development. Here's what National Harbor has going on to celebrate and honor Juneteenth.
This will be a Saturday Afternoon Racing SAR event. It will be run in the same manner as WNR, only on Saturday, starting at 12:00. We will also have a RC and award of the Yellow Hat!
Skippers meeting at 11:30!
For racing rules information, please review the World Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing 2021-2024.
Registration for this event is open to skippers and will open to crew from June 10th to the 13th.
Join us for a sail up to the Yards , where we will grab some dinner and listen to the concert, then leave just in time to catch the fireworks at Nats Park from the water.
The free Navy Yard Summer Concert Series is BACK at the Yards Park boardwalk! Come to Yards Park to relax and enjoy the river view, fantastic bands, food and beverage, and a large variety of great restaurants within a few minutes walk from the park. Family-friendly lyrics and grassy open space make this an enjoyable event for adults and kids alike.
As always, if the event is popular and we need more space, we will use the destination sail format, where crew swaps and helps with vehicle logistics.
